I don't want to unnecessarily complicate things but the library management in C1 seems to still be pretty limited compared to LR. Looking for more flexibility on metadata management and portability to other programs - would like to move from catalog only for metadata to sidecar xmp as part of this.I don't want to remain stuck to their subscription model.LR generally works great for me but is slow (er than C1 in a noticeable way).Work is primary imports from digital cameras with some image scanning (via digital camera). As a photographer, youll love how much it improves your workflow. All the functions and features of Photo Mechanic are just as you’ve always used them, with the new feature of catalogs for indexing every photo you’ve ever taken. All organized in a year/date based folder hierarchy which i like, (keywording and geotagging ~1/2 way done and proceeding), mostly through LR or Bridge Photo Mechanic is one of the best apps for Mac computers for viewing multiple photos quickly. This a bit much for 16GB, especially as the GPU will use a lot of this shared memory whilst editing in the Develop module. Photo Mechanic Plus includes all the speed and features that are in Photo Mechanic with the premium addition of a powerful image database.I have ~100k images (including digtal pictures and film scans).I've used C1 a bunch and love the development options but also haven't gotten comfortable with the catalog and image management I've used Lightroom (Classic, current version via subscription) for years and am comfortable with this workflow in lightroom (import to laptop, keyword, tag, develop, export catalog from laptop, import to master catalog on the desktop, bob's my uncle). Both are Apple, and when i return from travel i want to merge the images and C1 catalog from the laptop to my Desktop. I use 2 computers - a laptop when my i'm traveling and Desktop when I'm home. I'm interested in incorporating Photo Mechanic into my workflow and looking for some advice and/or tutorial on end to end workflow.
